Federal authorities have charged an Iranian man with conspiring to sell pirated copies of Eastman Kodak's printing software worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Navid Salehvaziri of Tehran was arrested in Virginia and charged with setting up a website to sell pirated copies of Kodak's Prinergy Evo printer software.
The website was called "KodakPrinergy.com" and looked official. But the software Salehvaziri sold to an undercover FBI agent for $1,500 was an unauthorized copy, with its usual security features disabled by a hack.
Kodak verified it was a full working copy of its commercial printing technology that usually lists for $345,000. It's the heart of Kodak's "direct from computer to plate" technology for high-volume, high-speed printers.
Salehvaziri will face the software pirating charge in Rochester.

It would be unacceptable if three Somali men convicted of piracy were to be given refugee status in the Netherlands, according to VVD parliamentarians.
'These troublemakers should be thrown out of the country as quickly as possible,' MP Malik Azmani said. The pirates have been released from jail but will not be deported because their applications for asylum are still being processed.
The situation is too bizarre for words, Azmani said. 'First you shoot at Dutch soldiers and then you request asylum here,' he is quoted as saying. 'It is unacceptable that these criminals want to remain here.'
The three are part of a group of nine Somali pirates jailed for 4.5 years in 2011 after going on trial in the Netherlands. Having served two-thirds of their sentence, they have now been released from jail.
Dozens of Afghan women, men and children gathered in front of the UNHCR office in Ankara city the capital of Turkey to protest against the performance of UNHCR in considering their cases. Protesters claim UNHCR in Turkey is not reviewing their cases on time, which cause them wait for longer than expected.
The demonstrations have entered in 11th day and protesters are staying there day and night, on rood side till their voice is heard.
Asylum seekers have set up a protest camp in the Ankara city, demanding to meet UNHCR officials to review their cases which are already rejected by UNHCR.

The protesters’ spokesman Dr.Abdul Hamid said: “We want to show the government that it would not be easy for us to go back to Afghanistan. They are scared of returning there.”

Shehnila Taufiq, 47, her daughter, Zainab, 19, and sons Bilal, 17, and Jamil, 15, perished after a ‘ferocious’ blaze engulfed their Leicester home in the early hours of the morning, a jury was told.
Mrs Taufiq’s husband, consultant neurosurgeon Dr Muhammed Taufiq Sattar, survived because he was working in Dublin at the time of the tragedy.

Seven men and a youth are accused of deliberately starting the inferno in Spinney Hills, Leicester. They all deny four counts of murder.
Nottingham Crown Court was told the intended target of the arson attack was teenager Abdul Hakim, whose mother lived just two doors away from the Taufiq family.
Seven hours earlier Hakim, 19, had been involved in a confrontation with football coach Antoin Akpom, a friend and associate of the accused, in which Mr Akpom was stabbed to death. The incident took place in Sussex Street, Leicester, less than a mile from the scene of the fire.

A senior teacher at the centre of an alleged plot by religious hard-liners to seize control of governing bodies has admitted that there was a campaign to install Muslims in leading roles at schools in Birmingham.
Nearly 20 schools in the city are currently being investigated over claims that male and female pupils were segregated, sex education banned and extremist clerics praised in assemblies.
But one of the teachers said last night that the controversial move - dubbed the Trojan Horse - was aimed at raising attainment levels of Muslim pupils after years of underachievement.
Speaking anonymously to Channel 4 News, the teacher admitted there was a campaign to assert more Muslim influence in schools, describing it as “a very positive thing”.
He said: “This is about the proportion of representation and leadership on boards of schools that serve predominantly Muslim children.
“These teachers and leaders have a deeper understanding of the view of the population in these schools.
“I think the needs of Muslim children have been neglected for many, many years.

Should the Islamist party PAS implement hudud in Kelantan, women and children are in danger of becoming easy targets for rape by Muslim men, the Gerik MP claimed.
“I don’t think hudud law is very fair, that is why I said that on Facebook. When a rape is taking place, who would call someone to witness it” she told The Malay Mail Online.
Tan’s rant started on her Facebook page in response to other posts.
“Andy wait until one fine day their daughters or grand-daughters being raped by a muslim man. Then they will cry!!!!!” Tan posted in reply to a post by Facebook user Andychew Andypfilcol.
It would be difficult to charge rape offenders under hudud laws as four witnesses would be required to prove to the Syariah Court that the crime had taken place, she added.
PAS announced plans this month to introduce two private members’ bills in Parliament to remove safeguards in the constitution that bar it from enforcing Hudud laws.

He took the opportunity to express his wishes to Obama while taking the US President on a 25-minute guided tour of the mosque and the Heroes' Mausoleum, at Jalan Perdana this morning.
In response Obama said "pray for me," Ismail told reporters after Obama's visit to the Malaysian iconic monuments here today.
"Obama also said that every day when he wakes up he always does his best to put an end to oppression and conflicts affecting communities," he said.
Ismail, 70, also expressed his excitement on the historic meeting with Obama, which was his second meeting with a sitting US President.
His first meeting was with President Lyndon B.Johnson's in 1966, about 48 years ago when he was 22 years old and a tahfiz student (studying the Quran).
" I never expect I would meet another US President in my lifetime, after almost 50 years," he added. Ismail was also impressed with Obama's ability to understand the Malay language, in which he sometimes communicated with the US President.
Despite Obama's limited vocabulary, the US President frequently replied with "Insya Allah" (God willing) and "terima kasih" (thank you), he said.
