A British fanatic in Syria has warned would-be jihadists that fighting in the war-torn country is “more difficult than people think”.

The unidentified man said being a Muslim warrior was more than just putting on a “tactical vest and grab a Kalashnikov and get a big beard”.

He also attacked the image that Syria was a “five star jihad” following reports by other fanatics that boasted of staying in villas and mansions.

He warns others: "It is not easy to stand in front of a tank while it launches at you.

“Fighting for real is more difficult than people think. It's not as easy as pulling out your nine-millimetre on a back road on the streets of London and blasting a guy with it (knowing) that he's not going to blast you back.”

He adds: “The status of a mujtahid is heavy. When you come to these lands, you act the Islam, you are the Islam that people want to see and know.

“So you don't just come here and put on a tactical vest and grab a Kalashnikov and get a big beard and that's it.

“Brothers, please … it's a career it's life, it's not just something you put on Facebook. Don't think you are coming to a road that is planted with roses and pebbles and as people have seen recently villas and mansions and things like that."

As the world learned from the story of Malala Yousafzai, education frightens Muslims. This is not without good reason, as any mind equipped with the ability to reason can quickly determine that Islam is a pile of fiction invented by horny perverts from the 7th century. Brunei Muslim Othman Mohammad Daud shares this phobia. An employee at the nation’s Ministry of Education, Daud is actively trying to ensure that better ideas than his religion don’t enter into school curricula.

Recently, private education institutions in Brunei were warned that they would face steep fines or imprisonment if any religion other than Islam were taught to a Muslim or atheist. Brunei, while governed under sharia law, is not as extreme as other countries (yet.) They’re working on it, though – among their soon-to-be-enacted laws include bills that allow amputation as punishment for theft as well as the death penalty for more serious crimes, like cheating on your husband. Daud said the new law would “ensure the prosperity, well-being, peace and solidarity” of the people of Brunei. Because nothing says prosperity, well-being, peace, and solidarity like severed hands and censorship.

Daud also criticized globalization, saying the new sharia regulations would help against the “rapid development of a borderless world.” Apparently those living in Dar al-Islam (the house of Islam; the Islamic world) don’t take too kindly to cultural encroachment into their anachronistic, savage territories. Unfortunately for the Muslims, the rest of the world will continue to laugh at how backward they still remain.

Asylum seekers at Manus Island's detention centre have reportedly set fire to a compound, torn down fences and destroyed tents after being told they would not be resettled in Papua New Guinea.



A spokeswoman from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection confirmed on Sunday night that she was aware of ''a disturbance'' on the island.



Immigration Minister Scott Morrison issued a statement on Monday morning also confirming a ''disturbance'', but said staff were safe and the centre was now ''calm''.



''It is reported that Papua New Guinea police have arrested a number of transferees in relation to the incident,'' the statement said.



He said there were some injuries to detainees and some ''minor property damage to the centre''.



Adelaide man Murtaza Ghulam said that his brother, a Pakistani asylum seeker who was in the first group sent to the island in 2013, had phoned him amid the chaos.



''Everyone is fighting and there is a lot of people injured. He told me a lot of people are injured and hurt,'' he said.



''He just called me for five or six seconds at 10 o'clock.''



He said that asylum seekers were clashing with police and several had escaped.

Around 250 British-based extremists who went to train and fight in Syria have returned to the UK, it has emerged.

Ministers have been told that over the past two years more than 400 Britons have gone to Syria and it is now thought just over half have returned.



In January alone, 16 people were arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences related to Syria compared with 24 arrests in the whole of last year.



A senior Whitehall source said: "The threat from Syria is serious and presents real challenges for intelligence agencies.



"But not all of those returning will start engaging in UK-based attack planning.



"For some, their jihad is done, others will help others travel to Syria, while others will raise funds for fighting."
