Organized Crime Detection Unit (ÚOOZ) detectives raided the premises of a center belonging to the Islamic Foundation in Prague centre, situated on the eastern outskirts of the city, today on suspicion that it was publishing a book filled with hateful rhetoric, ÚOOZ spokesman Pavel Hanták has told the Czech News Agency (ČTK).
The book allegedly spreads racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia and violence against "inferior" races, Hanták said.
The police have not said how many people were detained, but media estimate the number to be between 10 and 20.
The raid on the center lasted four and a half hours, and the reason for the action was reportedly a book titled The Bases of Tauhid: The Islamic concept of God.
Former Muslim Lukáš Lhoťan told ČTK today he recently filed a complaint over the book. He said it contains extreme Muslim opinions, and that it was published by the Centre of Muslim Communities in the Czech Republic together with the Islamic Foundation.
