Despite some complaints about the lack of possible nominees from this month, I think April yielded a decent crop:
Shah Ahmad Shafi – Bangladeshi Islamist who claims atheists shouldn’t be allowed in Bangladesh, which he calls “Allah’s country.”
Ibrahim Hewitt – UK Islamic activist who blamed various groups of non-Muslims for contracting HIV and wrote: “If people had all followed the way of life of Islam, no one would have suffered and died from AIDS.” Also wrote that the death penalty for adultery or apostasy is part of “true Islam,” and condemned various forms of music as being haram (forbidden.)
Sarah Fahmy – Authored a histrionic petition demanding Brandeis University withdraw an honorary degree for counterjihad activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The university caved to the Muslimah’s demands and did not award Ali the degree.
Yahya Abdul-Aziz Jemus Junkung Jammeh – President of the Gambia who stated “We will fight these vermins called homosexuals or gays the same way we are fighting malaria-causing mosquitoes, if not more aggressively… As far as I am concerned, LGBT can only stand for Leprosy, Gonorrhea, Bacteria and Tuberculosis; all of which are detrimental to human existence.”
Abu Azmi – Indian politician who said: “Rape is punishable by hanging in Islam. But here, nothing happens to women, only to men. Even the woman is guilty.”
