"VIOLATES CHILDREN'S RIGHTS AND ENCOURAGES THEM TO INDULGE IN OBSCENE ACTS" SAUDI ACTIVISTS CALL FOR BAN OF CARTOON NETWORK FOR SHOWING A KISS BETWEEN 2 CHARACTERS

Saudi activists have called for banning the transmission of the Dubai-based Cartoon Network Arabia after it showed a scene involving kissing.

Members of the Saudi child care association said the scene violates children’s rights and encourages them to indulge in obscene acts.

“This scene and other scenes broadcast by this channel constitute an attempt to harm the Islamic values and principles on which our children are raised,” the association said in a statement carried by local newspapers.

Cartoon Network, launched in Dubai in 2010, broadcast via Arabsat and Nilesat satellites and is owned by the Media City-based Turner Broadcasting System, an affiliate of the US Time Warner.
