A Muslim leader says he has fears for his life after receiving a beating at an Auckland mosque, where two Islamic factions are fighting for control.
Past president of the New Zealand Muslim Assocation, Haider Lone, is still in hospital with serious injuries 10 days after the incident at the Blockhouse Bay Road mosque.
The beating left him with broken bones and severe eye injuries.
Haider Lone believes the attack, by a man in a hoodie and with weighted boxing gloves, was a targeted attack by an opposing Muslim group which had been banned from the mosque for its extremist beliefs.
