MUSLIM COUPLE SENTENCED FOR POSTING VIDEOS GLORIFYING LEE RIGBY'S MURDER

The British Muslim who posted gloating videos on YouTube glorifying the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby was today jailed for more than five years even though he has now renounced extremism.

Royal Barnes, 23, had been a friend of the soldier’s killer Michael Adebowlae and had offered his three-door Vauxhall Astra to anyone who killed a British soldier.

His wife Rebekah Dawson, 22, who made legal history by wearing a full-face veil throughout a recent court case was sentenced to 20 months for her part in the videos.

Barnes had posted three videos on the internet describing the murder as “brilliant” and claiming “British people will never be safe on the streets of London.”

Another video showed him driving past the floral tributes in Woolwich and laughing at “this is where the British soldier died.”

Three further videos were found on the computer at his Hackney home including Barnes pretending to be a suicide bomber at Finsbury Park tube station.

He is also filmed inside Westminster Magistrates Court where he was convicted of a public order offence protesting against an EDL rally.

Barnes was a member of Al-Muhajiroun and had taken part in Muslim patrols in East London.
